At what point does physical restraint become physical abuse?
Restraining children for their own safety is commonplace. Carseats are intentionally toddler-proof, and many High Chairs include harness or belt restraints. These things are universally accepted. Some restraint practices, such as “leashing” a toddler or preschooler or wrapping a child’s hand to prevent thumbsucking, are accepted by some parents, but not by others. Other practices, such as handcuffing an unruly child (which could be useful when the child is out of control and the parent must concentrate on another task, such as driving), are probably accepted only by a rare few.
Where do you draw the line?
i have never heard of handcuffing and highchairs i think can be used as restraint when they are left there for more than just eating, i got mad at a daycare for keeping my daughter in a Buggy for 2 hours so they didnt have to watch her play of MULTIPLE occasions. that is a ride but 2 hours is overly excessive especially when she is only in there so she doesnt need to be watched.
I also always said i did not like leashes but my daughter is 20 months and hates the stroller but when i let her walk she sometimes runs away so I use a monkey backpack on her sometimes. it is for her own saftey. I feel like people are judging me but I would rather have her at the end of a rope like a dog that lost in the mall.
