Till what age do kids need to sit on car seats in canada??

My kid is 5 now and i was wondering does she still need to sit in a Car Seat??

I won’t answer from a law standpoint, but from a safety standpoint. Regardless of what the law says, she should still be in some kind of seat. I belive Canada’s seats only harness up to 48lbs? Lots of people in Canada purchase a US Britax seat (Marathon, Boulevard, Decathalon or Regent) to harness their child longer. A child should stay in a 5 point harness as long as possible, its safer than using a booster or just the seatbelt. The US Marathon/Boulevard/Decathalon will harness to 65lbs, the Regent to 80lbs. If she is not in a harnessed seat (which is better!) than she should at the very least be in a high back Booster Seat, as long as she can sit upright for the entire trip. If she can not sit upright and still for the trip or if she still falls asleep in the car, a seat with an extended harness like the ones mentioned above is better.
